- Yin Yoga with acupressure points with Paula
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the kidneys are the key organ at the foundation or root of our health - yet for so many of us today, chronic stress results in an overproduction of both adrenaline and cortisol, which adversely affect the energy of the kidneys and deplete them of their vital essence. This has many knock-on effects on the body, including: -Chronic fatigue/exhaustion/burnout-Insomnia-Memory/concentration issues-Back pain-Knee pain-Bone issues-Bladder issues - Frequent Urination/Urgency-UTIs-Kidney Stones-Night sweats-Dizziness/Vertigo-Tinnitus-Dry skin-Thinning Hair-Sagging skin around the jaw and chin-Reproductive issues Yin Yoga challenges us to remain in postures for a longer period of time - sometimes up to 5 minutes on each side - so that we can access a deeper level of stillness. Almost all of the postures are seated, supine or prone so that it is possible to sustain much longer holds than in standing sequences. These sustained holds can have profound effects on both the body and mind, releasing physical, energetic and emotional blocks. When we apply pressure and massage specific points while holding these poses, we further increase the effect, in a very deep, profound way, There are 5 key acupressure points in this adrenal formula - you will learn all 5 on the day - we will discuss each one, its location and how to self-stimulate each point effectively. You will receive a handout outlining all points so that you can repeat this practice at home yourself and have an amazing tool to counteract fatigue, exhaustion and burnout going forward. Through the use of Yoga Nidra at the end of a Yin practice like this, it is possible to move into deep state, meaning that we move out of our normal beta state brain waves (in our normal state of waking consciousness, these are the brain waves of active thought) into the alpha state (the consciousness of deep relaxation). From there it is possible to go deeper again and access the meditative state (theta) and at the deepest level the state of deep healing (delta). This Yin practice with acupressure massage followed by Yoga Nidra is a perfect combination for a deeply restorative, healing practice.

In this 3 hour immersive workshop, Paula will help you to rectify the imbalance of adrenal exhaustion and recharge your kidneys.

When our kidney energy is strong and nourished, we feel at ease - no fear or anxiety. We move into a state of knowing/wisdom - It's a feeling like coming home after a long time away. You rediscover the joy of simply being, accessing your deepest internal wisdom and serenity. This adrenal formula brings together a number of disciplines that work really well individually to treat stress and exhaustion but when integrated cohesively, are a real game changer.
In Chinese Medicine, the kidneys are the root of our energetic existence. The conservation, judicious circulation and replenishment of the kidney's energy is a key aim of this workshop. I have personally experienced incredibly deep states of relaxation through this integrated practice and my hope is that by sharing it, you too will be guided to a place of deep stillness and tranquillity. Here, you can experience a clarity of understanding and perception which can positively influence all aspects of your life.
Yin Yoga can often appear easy but, in fact, it is far from it. It is much easier to move through a dynamic practice and hold postures for only 5 breaths. Yin challenges us to remain in the posture for a longer period of time, and by doing so, we can enter into a meditative state within the stillness - for so many of us, this is becoming more and more difficult with the level of sensory distraction that we are exposed to on a daily basis. At a physical level, it works on the organs, connective tissue, fascia, ligaments, tendons, bones and joints. A Yin practice helps to completely reset the nervous system. It enables us to become more self-aware - to discover our innate tendencies and patterns and to accept ourselves completely, allowing everything to be just as it is. This leads to a sense of deep peace, that transcends the constant fluctuations of the mind and the changing nature of the body.
