- Yin Yoga and Sound Bath with Paula
Paula is teaching a 2.5 hour workshop on Yin Yoga combined with a beautiful sound bath to help you move into a state of greater balance - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This Sunday class is designed to help you let go of old baggage and go deeper on the inward journey of Yoga. Yin Yoga challenges us to remain in postures for a longer period of time - sometimes up to 5 minutes on each side - so that we can access a deeper level of stillness. Almost all of the postures are seated, supine or prone so that it is possible to sustain much longer holds than in standing sequences. These sustained holds can have profound effects on both the body and mind, releasing physical, energetic and emotional blocks. Sound baths provide an immersive, full-body listening experience that can bring balance, deep relaxation, and a sense of ease to your whole being.Through the use of rhythm and frequency, it is possible to move into deep relaxation, meaning that we move out of our normal beta state brain waves (in our normal state of waking consciousness, these are the brain waves of active thought) into the alpha state (the consciousness of deep relaxation). From there it is possible to go deeper again and access the meditative state (theta) and at the deepest level the state of deep healing (delta).

Yin Yoga and Sound Bath - a wonderful combination for combatting inflammation
Why is it worth making time to do this workshop? Imagine being completely at ease - no stress, no anxiety, no discomfort of any sort. It's a feeling like coming home after a long time away. You can rediscover the joy of simply being, accessing your deepest internal wisdom and serenity. This combination of Yin Yoga and Sound Therapy really helps to improve:
The sound frequencies created by the crystal bowls help to restore, optimise and balance the flow of energy in the different centres of the body. We move beyond all doing, into a place of deep stillness and tranquillity. Here, we can access a clarity of understanding and perception with which we can positively influence all aspects of our life. This class will also help to reduce chronic inflammation in the body - a modern day epidemic. (Many chronic conditions including heart disease, cancer and rheumatoid arthritis are associated with underlying chronic inflammatory processes.)
Yin Yoga can often appear easy but, in fact, it is much easier to move through a dynamic practice and hold postures for only 5 breaths. Yin challenges us to remain in the posture for a longer period of time, and by doing so, we can enter into a meditative state within the stillness. At a physical level, it works on the connective tissue, fascia, ligaments, tendons, bones and joints. A Yin practice helps to completely reset the nervous system. It enables us to become more self-aware - to discover our innate tendencies and patterns and to accept ourselves completely, allowing everything to be just as it is. This leads to a sense of deep peace, that transcends the constant fluctuations of the mind and the changing nature of the body.
