Now it is even more important that we pass on these skills to you. People need it, society needs, it, the world needs it. As a Yoga teacher you can live a life of real value, purpose and meaning. You can genuinely contribute to making the world better by helping others grow into the best versions of themselves. Yoga Teacher Training at YogaVeda Living
It may sound obvious that a Yoga Teacher Training Course should help you to understand, through personal experience, what exactly Yoga is, why we do it, and how to do it correctly – we have to live and experience it ourselves to be able to pass it on to someone else. For us, Yoga is a way of life and we developed our courses to provide a genuinely vocation-oriented training in Yoga practice and philosophy. We will share with you our combined experience of more than forty years of practice and study of all aspects of Yoga.
We help you to develop a STRONG PERSONAL PRACTICE of postures, breathing techniques and meditation, and will underscore this with practice supportive lifestyle and nutrition principles from Ayurveda.
We teach you a broad syllabus of POSTURES IN GREAT DETAIL, including the anatomy, physiology, alignment, benefits, contraindications and modifications, as well as the practical steps of teaching postures to students of all levels. We show you how to design, sequence and teach different types of classes – from gentle to more dynamic.
We give you a solid FOUNDATION IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF YOGA from the classical texts of Patanjali Yoga Sutra, Bhagavad Gita and Hatha Pradipika, so that you understand not just the what, but most importantly the why and the how of Yoga.
Additionally, we teach you the PRINCIPLES OF AYURVEDA and its relationship with Yoga practice; the Subtle Anatomy system of Chakras and Nadis; chanting of Yoga Sutra and Sanskrit Mantra; the history of Yoga.
How our Yoga Teacher Training course is structured
The 1-year course is structured into 6 Weekend Modules, divided into 3 Terms, with an Assessment weekend at the end. In addition, there is a requirement for minimum twice weekly attendance at classes, either in studio or online, throughout the course, which this year begins on Nov 10th, 2023, and runs to May 19th, 2024.
A weekend module consists of Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.Friday Evening - 6pm-9pmSaturday Morning - 7:30am-10:30amSaturday Afternoon - 12:00pm-1:30pm, 2:15-5:15pm.Sunday Morning - 7:30am - 10:30amSunday Afternoon - 12:00pm-1:30pm, 2:15-5:15 pm.
Each weekend we will create a practical teaching assignment, either in groups or individually, to work on for the subsequent weekend, honing your teaching skills and giving you invaluable experience with the support of your community of fellow trainees. There will also be regular opportunities to observe and even assist Paula and David in their classes, so that your Yoga teacher training is really practical and not just theoretical.
Yoga Teacher Training 2023 - 2024 Terms
At the end of the course, there is an Assessment Weekend. Please, don't let that word Assessment frighten you . We will work with you to give you the confidence and understanding that teaching Yoga is simply sharing your own experience and skills with another person, so that when it comes to it, you will be relaxed and at ease in yourself, trusting of your knowledge and calm in your communication. You will be a Yoga Teacher.

I had no intention of doing Yoga Teacher Training when I started David and Paula’s Heart of Yoga course in 2016. However, they are both such wonderful, clear, compassionate, well-rounded teachers that I found myself signing up with enthusiasm for Teacher Training in 2017. The course was brilliant. Paula and David facilitate an open, non-judgemental, kind and fun learning process. The course is very balanced with focus on all aspects of Yoga, not just the asana. I cannot recommend this course enough and I am so delighted I did it. At completion, you are more than able to stand in front of a Yoga class and feel prepared and ready to teach. If you are debating whether to do the course, my advice is to jump in and go for it!

From the moment I stepped foot in David and Paula’s shala in Blackrock my life changed. My thought was to come and practice twice a week but within a week this had become a daily practice, it just made sense. I then completed their Heart of Yoga course to deepen my practice and a year later had the great joy of being a student on their first 200 hour Teacher training. David and Paula are two of the most knowledgeable, genuine, devoted yogi’s that I have met. I am so grateful for their guidance in my own practice, which has stayed with me as I continue to teach, study and practice daily. I wholeheartedly recommend their teaching, whether for a daily class, workshop or training - be open, just step in, I guarantee you won’t regret it!

Doing the Yoga teacher training course with David and Paula felt like the natural next step after completing the Heart of Yoga course with them. I did the Teacher Training course to further deepen my understanding of Yoga rather than to actually teach Yoga but within a year of completing the course, I was teaching a local Yoga class in the rural community where I was living. The course gave me the confidence to set up and teach this class and others. I felt the knowledge and training allowed me to meet the needs of students of various ages and abilities that were in my classes. I absolutely loved studying this course with David and Paula, looking deeper into the tradition of Yoga and deeper into myself within the safety of a wonderful group of peers and two fantastic teachers. I highly recommend studying with David and Paula, whatever your future Yoga plans are. Their respect for the ancient traditions of Yoga make them wonderful teachers

The yoga teacher training with David and Paula is much more than learning postures and how to prepare a yoga class. Imagine true yogis living in modern times? That's what they are and they will share all their knowledge and all their years of living and practicing yoga with you. This course is for everyone who would like to deepen their knowledge of yoga philosophy. It is theory and practice in all levels, from diet to lifestyle. It was one of the best years of my life. I would highly recommend it.

I did the 200 hour YTT with Paula and David in 2018 and I am currently doing the 500 hours. With them you will experience an authentic understanding of what Yoga truly is from professional Yogis. Thanks to Paula and David’s experience, you will learn more about all the 3. aspects of Yoga ( Postures, Breathing techniques, Meditation, Ayurveda lifestyle), you will learn how to grow and develop your own practice, and you will develop the confidence needed to continue your Yoga journey as a teacher. I couldn’t recommend this course enough!

There are many Teacher Training courses on offer. However if you want to learn in an authentic way from exceptional teachers who are dedicated Yogis, then this course is for you. The course deepened my own practice on the mat and positively transformed my life off the mat. David and Paula are patient, intuitive and highly experienced teachers whom I would (and constantly do) recommend to everyone. If you have a chance to book this course, take it and learn how to teach Yoga in an authentic way.

I really loved the structure of the course…it’s a very well thought through structure. I just wanted to deepen my own practice but after those two years [Heart of Yoga and Teacher Training], I felt ready to actually share and teach – you will learn so much!

David and Paula run a wonderfully comprehensive Teacher Training course. For every asana covered, they broke down in detail how to teach it, how to modify it for students with different needs and abilities, the contraindications and the benefits of the posture. But they covered so much more, from anatomy to pranayama, meditation, Yoga nidra, Yoga philosophy and chanting. They taught us how to structure a class, how to open and close a class so that students have the best experience possible. I felt it was a really well-rounded course. I loved the fact that both David and Paula “walked the talk” in terms of their commitment to their own personal practices and the way in which they live their lives. They were always available to answer questions and provide encouragement.
