Ayurvedic Therapies Course

The ultimate self-care toolkit for women

Ayurvedic therapies nurture the body’s natural intelligence, supporting circulation, detoxification, and deep cellular renewal. By balancing the doshas and calming the nervous system, these therapies promote ojas - the vital essence that strengthens immunity, slows ageing, and supports graceful longevity. Practiced regularly, these treatments don’t just restore your energy in the moment - they cultivate long-term vitality, resilience, and radiant health for you and your family. This Ayurvedic Therapies Course for women focuses on 6 very specific, practical Ayurvedic treatments (see below).

Paula will guide you through each of the treatments so that you have these amazing ancient tools for your own self-care going forward.

Having run an Ayurvedic clinic since 2019 (and studied/practised Ayurveda for a number of years before that), she will share her practical expertise with you on this 6 month course (Time commitment: Just one Saturday a month from 10:30 - 1pm).

Ayurvedic Therapies covered:

  • Scalp/Head Massage

Paula's personal experience

I had my first course of Ayurvedic treatments in India in 2003.  It was a very intense experience as I was out there practising Yoga at the time and decided to supplement my Yoga practice with a daily treatment - something I would definitely advise against today. (I would opt for a much gentler approach if I was to do it all again - the great benefits of hindsight!).

I came home from that trip with a pile of Ayurvedic texts and over the years with the help and inspiration of my teachers, I completed formal studies in Ayurveda and opened my own clinic in 2019, providing consultations, detox programmes and therapies.

On this 6-month journey, you will learn:

1 Scalp/Head Massage

An Ayurvedic head massage (Shiro Abhyanga) is a therapeutic practice rooted in Ayurveda that works on the scalp, head, neck, and upper shoulders to balance the nervous system and regulate mental energy. It is traditionally used to calm excess mental activity, support healthy scalp circulation, and release tension stored in the head through intentional touch, oil application, and marma (energy point) stimulation. Unlike a simple relaxation massage, this practice is designed to influence both physical and subtle systems, making it an integral part of Ayurvedic self-care and mental well-being. This treatment directly benefits hair growth and scalp health.

2 Organic Facial

Also known as Ubtan, this therapy is a sacred skincare ritual. It is more than just a beauty treatment; it is a holistic therapy that promotes deep cleansing, detoxification, and rejuvenation of the skin. It has been used for generations due to its immense benefits which include helping to achieve radiant skin as well as promoting well-being and providing a holistic way to gently detox the body through the skin.  This traditional Ayurvedic facial treatment amalgamates massage, steaming and the application of all natural organic ingredients such as herbs, spices, grains, and other botanicals to aid exfoliation, cleansing, and intense nourishment of the skin.

3 Foot Massage

In Ayurveda, foot massage (also known as Padabhyanga) is a core part of daily wellness.  This therapy stimulates vital energy points (marma), promotes balance in the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha - the fundamental energetic forces governing physiological functions), and helps draw out toxins (ama) from the body. Foot massage isn’t just a relaxing experience—it is a powerful healing therapy. From improving sleep and circulation to reducing stress and toxins, this simple practice connects ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with today’s medical science.

4 Full Body Massage

Known as Abhyanga in Ayurveda, this is far more than a simple oil massage - it is regarded as a cornerstone therapy in Ayurvedic medicine - one that is essential for fundamental preventative healthcare. The Sanskrit word is translated as “great oiling with loving hands,” which beautifully captures both its physical application and the compassionate intent behind the practice. Benefits include Improved circulation, joint lubrication, detoxification, immunity boost, better sleep, balanced metabolism, stress reduction, emotional stability, and increased energy.

5 Nasal Treatment

Nasya is a term rooted in the ancient science of Ayurveda, referring to the therapeutic administration of medicines through the nasal passages. It aims to cleanse, nourish, and rejuvenate both mind and body - revealing a profound and multifaceted approach to health care. Whether you seek to enhance your respiratory function, improve mental clarity, or achieve a deeper state of balance, Nasya offers a time-tested solution rooted in the principles of Ayurvedic medicine - it is a powerful therapy and a key component of Ayurvedic detoxing.

6 Ear treatment

Karna Purana is an Ayurvedic ear therapy that involves the gentle pouring of warm medicated oil into the ears to nourish, lubricate, and cleanse the ear canal. This therapy is beneficial for hearing issues, tinnitus, ear infections, Vata imbalances, and nervous system relaxation. It is a deeply calming and rejuvenating procedure that also helps reduce stress, anxiety, and sleep disorders. This therapy not only improves ear health but also calms the nervous system and enhances mental well-being. In Ayurveda, the ears are considered important sensory organs, and their health is linked to the overall balance of the body.
